Using LinkedIn Answers to scratch an itch…

LinkedIn Logo

Those of you who are on LinkedIn know that a special feature called LinkedIn Answers allows you to ask questions of the connections you’ve gathered. I’ve decided to use it myself to ask the following question:

As a donor, if you had one wish for the nonprofit sector, what would it be?

If you’re interested in answering it yourself, go and check out the LinkedIn page for it. As a matter of practical IT administration, it’s trivial, but I think this is a good demonstration for nonprofits of some of the more interesting uses of LinkedIn Answers.

    Hi Alan,

I used the question feature on linked in last february and found that it was also excellent for asking questions like “Who is an expert on this topic” or what is the best resource on xyz.

For open-ended questions, to get the most, you have to do a summary/pattern analysis if you get a lot of responses.

Facebook has a similar app – but I’ve noticed that I’ve gotten more indepth answers from people via linkedin.

Yeah, it’s more of a canvassing than a market survey but that’s ok. I’m trying to figure out what people are wanting the nonprofit sector to have. Unfortunately, nonprofit people are having a tough time answering as a donor. I wonder why. ;)
