Steve Wright of Salesforce.com Foundation told me about a new wiki devoted to something called the Nonprofit Roadmap Summit. OK, I just can’t help interjecting here that this is something that all the other CRM providers can learn from. Product roadmaps are invaluable tools for nonprofit IT directors in both their software procurement and deployment strategies over any given future period of time. And none of the major vendors in our sector do this with the exception of Wild Apricot. It’s an example of the lack of service we see from the Convios and Kinteras of the world . And yes, Kintera’s new CEO wants to have roadmaps soon but Convio has never been willing to give one out.
The wiki outlines an agenda that should be used as a template for how CRMs should deal with third-party developers who are going to be responsible for enhancing the product itself by making it more “sticky”. Kintera and Convio should steal a page from the wiki literally and just do the appropriate search and replace on “salesforce.com”.
Anyway, I’m going to be there and lobby for all the goodness possible from a new nonprofitforce template. Personally, I have a lot of ideas and questions related to nonprofitforce. If you have any questions or comments, I would be glad to air them at the Summit. Fire away!

Glad you can make it Allan–I’ll be there too and will look forward to brainstorming. I think we’ll actually get to address some things and get some work done.
Should be a really cool event, and like you said, might be a good model for others to follow.
Amazing… Blackbaud should have a look at this as well…
Definitely looking forward to working with you Steve. And Peter: Yeah — you think? So should Kintera and Convio. I hope that they do.
