Polls and ratings!

Star Search!I’ve installed polls on this site as well as a way to rate every post. It makes feel like a Star Search contestant but heck, it’s obvious the site is getting a lot more traffic lately and I want to really start writing on more topics to my readership’s liking. Think of it as a way to improve my relationship with you… That’s right you’re the consumer and you deserve to drive the topics I write about.

This is a great example of using the audience poll widget to build a relationship with your reader.

I went crazy with widgets and installed the meebo one …

I try not to install TOO MUCH stuff as the UI for my blog can’t really handle it. As it is, I’m more concerned with what I have to take away from the sidebar than what I have to add. That said, I’m looking to remove the Meebo widget as it’s not being used enough (maybe 1 convo every week now). I don’t have enough eyeballs to make it worthwhile. I’m more interested in upping my posting frequency and providing more comprehensive articles. The polls and ratings are all WordPress plugins. I like the plug-ins more than widgets because WP plug-ins are a lot more customizable and already fit within the WP admin screens. Widgets like Meebo are “out there” in that they’re not directly managed by WP…
