My nptech metafeed hasn’t updated since 12/23. Why is that? You can check it out for yourself at http://feeds.feedburner.com/nptechmetafeed. This is Marshall Kilpatrick’s feed right? Can someone contact him and see if he can work with feedburner to put it back up again?

That’s really strange because i was able to grab nptech tagged items as of December 30th … when I wrote the last update. There’s been some problem with delicious API and sending all items tagged with.
Anyway, Deborah, thank for cobbling that together.

I was looking through the feed list and there’s some missing feeds that were in the other one and new ones that were not …. plus if we are adding source feeds we should add a few more –
Yes, I had a whole long list of other feeds that were in Marshall’s (not to mention feeds that I would want to add on top of his list), but had to take out the ones that were sending back error messages. Feedblendr.com is not at all fault-tolerant. Alas, I could only put together a makeshift meta feed.

Marshall needs to put a forward on the old one.
I also add some recent posts about the nptech tag and tag stream being broken in a different way – similar to what Allan posted a few months back. I think it is worth having a cross-blog discussion.
Also, in terms of what is and what isn’t in there – I did it fast. I did not include the job listings because — so many come through and it is on a listserv and hard to capture efficiently. What would be fabulous would be if you posted a summary on your blog and tagged that post and I could point to it.
Also, the meta feed was intended to include aggregated sources, not single sources.
One of the key values of tagging is the ability to do this sort of micro distributed collaboration.
I’ve come to acknowledge how important the feed actually is. Obviously, I’ve become a junkie for the nptech stream. However, I wish we could archive this stuff. It’s too important not to.
I don’t see myself in the folksonomy/taxonomy debate because I think the debate doesn’t make sense to me. I’m a pretty practical person. If people want to tag these things “nptech”, I’m the kind of person who says, “Ok, but can I save these tagged items somehow?” I don’t get theoretical about how people want to arrange their books, I just want to visit their library. Right now, there’s no “library” to the feed so I’m hoping that eventually Google CSE can save that feed somehow. It’s the perfect complement to machine-driven search. The ability to search on the set of URLs contained with the “nptech” tag grouping for research purposes and to serve as a kind of meta-archive for our field would be wicked cool. It’s ALMOST there. My fingers are just itching to set it up… And then… just after that search engine is out, I’d love to “remix” the feed into different search terms and end up with RSS feeds coming off of THAT. That way, I could sort out say, job listings, and just focus on anything that mentions say, Blackbaud.
I can do that within FeedDemon 2.1 (worth the money too) but I don’t want to have to be tied to my desktop to achieve that. All web all the time… BTW, what happened to the original feed?
