To add to the onslaught of competitors that Blackbaud has in the nonprofit space,
Microsoft is going to offer a CRM via the Web just like Salesforce.com. Yes, let the great battle royale begin: SugarCRM, CiviCRM, Salesforce.com, Raiser’s Edge, Convio, Kintera and yup, the awkwardly named Microsoft Dynamics CRM Live. What would be fascinating is if Microsoft decided to extend open charity licensing or Techsoup-like pricing for nonprofits for their new SaaS CRM. I’m sure bells would be ringing all over the nonprofit CRM world.
I know their sales force is active in the nonprofit space, I get calls from their Dynamics sales team every few months. Obviously they see our vertical as important but I wonder if they know how to penetrate the market. I know one sure thing that gets noticed in the nonprofit tech world: is the product free?
And yet – I talked to salesfoce.com about the theoretical possibility of converting from Raiser’s Edge to their product and still have not received a call back.
There is a certain comfort level in working with a company like Blackbaud for whom non-profits is their only target audience.
Except for the fact that BB is the worst service provider in the industry….
