Happy Birthday to the Non-Profit Tech Blog!

Picture above by Heaven’s Gate (John)

The blog is ONE year old. I can’t believe it. Just for fun I did a year end accounting of all the traffic (using AWSTATS which does try to filter a lot of things out so my actual stats are probably way higher) on the site:

30,229 unique visitors
87,739 visits
439,961 pages
1073739 hits
18.80272 GB of total bandwidth

Frankly, I’m impressed with the fact that I got even a tenth of this traffic (and that I didn’t really start blogging until August) so it is with deep gratitude that I now take a virtual bow and give thanks to you, the reader. Last month was a banner month, breaking my previous blog traffic records by over 25% and sending my bandwidth up into the 9 GB range. I guess if all goes well, I’ll have to gladly upgrade my account. This is a good time for you to suggest any year-long themes that you think I should write about. Please comment below.

Also, some not so new news to those of you who follow me on Twitter, but I am leaving the Coalition for the Homeless on May 11th of this year and starting a new nonprofit myself. Yup! You guessed it — when it’s official, the subtitle of this blog will become “Confession of a Nonprofit Executive Director”. As you might expect from me, it’s a tech startup but I’m not at liberty to discuss what exactly the startup is at this time. Suffice it to say, social networking, twitter, or Second Life is not where I’m headed but the startup will be in the Economy 2.0 space. I think if you’re a very careful reader of this blog, I’ve left many hints as to what I may be up to but I’ll leave it for others to piece it all together.
