Convio is releasing more information about its Convio and Salesforce.com connector.
A presentation and demo is available at: http://open.convio.com/connectors/sfdc-connector.html
They’re huge Flash demos but worthy of looking at. As a response to my criticis about the Convio API where you can’t pull multiple users off their database, Tad Druart has been kind of enough to give a response:
We are working diligently with our clients and partners developing an API roadmap that helps them meet their larger business goals. To that end we recently released our getGroupMembers API. This API relies on the core Convio CRM system to dynamically segment constituents as they interact with the system. Then these different segments can be accessed using getGroupMembers. While this does not provide the broad flexibility of a straight query API our API stakeholders believe that this API provides a valuable set of business services that is much more in tune with their needs than a query based API. With the roadmap and large partner community, we’ll be releasing more APIs in the coming weeks and months.
I still disagree with Convio’s stand on this issue as it seems the only reason to do things this way is to prevent the wholesale abandonment of Convio for another platform. I much prefer Kintera’s point of view of things.
