  NTEN scooped us all with the news that nonprofits are now eligible to use Google Checkout for free (no gateway, processing or monthly fees) until the end of this year2008. And for the low, low rate of 2% and $0.20 per transaction after that! But wait, there's more. The annoying problem with Google Checkout for nonprofit usage was that it forced donors to go through a shipping screen. They've fixed that problem.   So I'm watching a co-worker fax documents hour after hour to other nonprofits. She works for our eviction prevention unit. That unit is responsible for serving 700 clients with emergency rental assistance. It's a one-shot deal that allows people to avoid the shelter system here in New York by paying their rental arrears. However, in order to pay for people's rent, my org has to fax our nonprofit partners with case management files just to see if they can pay our client's rental arrears.   Firstgiving has a widget too… Internet, Nonprofit 2.0, Online Fundraising, nptech | (1)

  It looks like firstgiving.org did THEIR widget recently and the numbers they're getting are pretty amazing. One blogger managed to raise $58,281.70. I think firstgiving has been using the web to aggregate donation requests to its site and in return, getting a small cut of the donations in return for hosting the request and payment process. Firstgiving.com is a subsidiary of justgiving.com. If you go to both sites, they're remarkably similar in design because they pretty much do the same thing -- aggregation of microphilanthropy causes via the web.

  Looks like chipin.com has got some competition. GetActive now allows their users to place a Flash Badge on their blog, SNS or personal website.
