  Breaking: Class Action Lawsuit Filed Against Convio Blackbaud, Convio, Startups, eCRM, salesforce.com | (7)

  A quick search on "Convio lawsuit" in Google turns up: http://snipurl.com/25sx1 [dockets_justia_com] The lawsuit was filed on April 22, 2008 and the plaintiff is Scott D.H. Redman. Digging further turned up this PDF document of the filing. The plaintiff's claim is that Convio keeps sending receipts with credit card expiration dates on them to donors in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. I don't have any idea what the merits of this suit are but it looks like a fairly small violation to me.   A smart reader just told me about some news I somehow overlooked -- it seems that David Crooke, Convio's CTO, was replaced by David Hart on the 27th of February. The inference here is that the quick and abrupt departure of David Crooke was payback for the Convio security scandal last year. Indeed, the press release was rather short itself on the details surrounding David Crooke's exit: Hart replaces David Crooke, Ph.D, a co-founder of Convio, who is leaving to create another entrepreneurial venture.   Go here. Oh well. I'm screwed or rather my old organization is. I doubt they'll be reading that post but now it's time to tell them. UPDATE (Thanksgiving 2007): And of course I can't tell them because they sent out the notice the night before a holiday only adding to the exposure -- GAHHHH!  I found out from Beth Kanter.   I'm very disappointed with the reaction of nonprofits to the Convio security breach. The main reason I'm disappointed with it is that out of 92 affected organizations, we know of only FOUR that have been affected.
