Ok, ok, I admit it. I’m a gamer — a videogamer. So how excited did you think I would be when I found out there was a game that simulated social entrepreneurship in Africa? And you can probably hear it in my voice when I started discussing his game. I think this idea has some legs but it all depends on how big the audience is for this kind of game. In a sense, he’s a double entrepreneur, trying to test out the size of the charity sim market AND starting a gaming studio at the same time. As he reveals in his podcast, he’s taken out an equity loan on his condo so you know he’s serious.

He’s looking for a lot of funding and a lot of connections so after listening to the Skypecast see what you can do to help him out.

Download audio file (villagethegame2.mp3)

This Skypecast is a recorded conversation I had via Skype with Darian Hickman, the founder of Village the Game on 12/12/2006.

I’ve finally put up an intro and outro on these podcasts. They were so naked before but now, properly clothed, I believe these podcasts just got a little bit better. I’d like to thank Marcus Baram of muckraked.com for letting me listen to his music collection, Jlew, http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/usersViewSingle.php?id=54447, for his modem sample called Dialup.mp3 at http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/samplesViewSingle.php?id=16475. An additional 3-second sample was culled from “Pick Up – Four Tet Remix” which was a remake of the song “Pick Up” by Bonobo.
