I just got this recently from Blackbaud’s Support site (yes, I know I’m two weeks late):
Blackbaud Software Has Not Been Tested with Microsoft Vista
Posted November 16, 2006
Microsoft expects to release Microsoft Vista, its next generation operating system, in January, 2007. Although we are currently testing Vista with our software and the preview version is available, we do not yet support its use. We will update the system recommendations and Knowledgebase solution BB263240 after the release of this product and compatibility is confirmed.
Always refer to your product’s system recommendations before purchasing new hardware and installing or upgrading third-party software.
I doubt any serious nonprofit IT director was going to switch over to Vista at any time but just in case any of you were thinking about it just nix that idea for a while. Heck, most people can’t even switch over to IE 7. ADP’s timesheet site, ezlabor, is not IE 7 compatible either and a bunch of other sites break as well.

Just because Blackbaud say their software is not ready for use with Vista does not mean that it is definitely not compatible. They said the same thing about IE7 for a long time even though many people were using it without a problem. What this means is that they cannot guarantee it, they are still going through a rigorous testing process and that it would be irrisponsible to say that it may work with Vista.

I agree – but I look at it from the perspective of the poor IT guy who has to call into Blackbaud if something goes wrong only to get this conversation
Blackbaud Support(BS): What operating system are you on? Windows Vista.
IT Director(ID):
BS: Are you aware that we do not support Vista?
ID: I do.
BS: Please reinstall Windows XP and RE on that computer.
ID: ARRGH!
you would think that since they have access to Vista and other early MS products that they would have gotten this kind of testing out of the way
Yeah, you WOULD think that just because their new CEO was a Microsoftie that he’d be really into Vista integration — http://www.charlestonbusiness.com/pub/12_4/news/5767-1.html
